Let’s Take on The DARE together!

As we go through life, we pass many opportunities by. Sometimes we see them but do not recognize them as opportunities. Other times we see excellent opportunities, but cannot take advantage of them for one reason or another. It is time to open your mind to possibilities around you and how you can utilize them.

Do you write down ideas for future investigation? Could you do small things toward an opportunity and slowly make it a reality? Often we are overwhelmed by the size of a task. We are dwarfed by the monumental complexity of reaching a goal or taking advantage of a dream.

What can you do to start moving toward the possibilities in your life? Do little things. Little things add up to huge things over time. If you were to add 1% a day to anything, at the end of a year you would have a tremendous increase. If you only added 1% improvement each week for a year, think of the amount you could achieve.

A 1% increase in your income, a 1% increase in your productivity, a 1% increase in any activity or skill you are involved in on a regular basis would mean a huge change at the end of a year.

Maybe you will not be able to speak French or Spanish overnight, but learn a word a day and at the end of this year you will have a large vocabulary. Apply this to anything you do and at the end of a year look back at the results.

Could a 1% increase in your internet marketing activity each week bring you to an online income that would help your financial situation? Open you mind to the possibilities of small actions leading to great results. How about increasing the time you spend reading by 1% a day. Think of the books you will read in a year.

An oak tree grows slowly over time. The small actions of an acorn lead to a mighty tree. An axeman may decide to cut the tree down, but a single swing of his ax barely does damage to the tree. It is the continual swing of the ax and the blade biting into the tree that produces results. It takes time for the man’s efforts to even truly damage the tree and longer still to bring it down.

So it is with life. Small changes over time lead to large results. Maybe you can find areas in your life you need to change. Open you mind to the possibilities of change. Believe change is possible and you can move mountains. Then start today to make small changes, even insignificant changes. Everything counts and they all add up.

Dare yourself to look into areas of your life where you need or want to change. Now, make a decision that you will improve in that area 1% a day, week or month. Small activities can lead to large results in time. Make a commitment to yourself to do one small thing every day that leads toward your desired outcome. Look back in a week or a month and see the results. If you are consistent, you will be amazed.

This is all about the question, “How do you eat an elephant?” The answer is just what I have been talking about, “One bite at a time”.

The Only Limit is You. Wouldn’t you agree that our greatest enemies are always our own doubts and fears? But luckily, the real truth is: that there are no limits to what we can do, be, or have in life… except for the limits we place on ourselves.   So how about excelling at anything … here are what I consider the Four Ds to Excellence.  DARE to Excel.

DESIRE:  First, you must have an intense burning desire to become excellent at one thing (whatever that might be for you) and make an unwavering commitment that nothing can stop you from reaching your desired outcome.  However desire is not enough.

DECISION:  You must make a decision that you are going to do whatever it takes to become excellent.  And that means: make every effort, overcome any obstacles that come your way and tame any fears and doubts that might creep in.

DISCIPLINE:  You must have the discipline to plan, to prepare and to execute, over and over again, until you achieve mastery.  There are no shortcuts to excellence.

DETERMINATION: You must have the determination to persevere and to turn any setback into comeback and any obstacle into opportunity.  Your attitude and belief in yourself are the keys to achieve mastery at anything in life.  

The rewards are awesome!  Dare Yourself.

Clearly the longest relationship you will have is with yourself, so invest in it and learn to enjoy your own company. 

Trust yourself.  We put our trust in other people, yet often mistrust our own opinions and judgment.   Learn to have faith in opinions and in your decisions.

Take risks.  Don’t be afraid to take risks.  If you become a regular risk-taker you’ll find that it’s inevitable that you’ll grow in confidence as a result. There really is nothing like forcing yourself out of your comfort zone to increase your confidence level.   It will also serve to reduce your fear of the unknown.

Refrain from being your own worst critic.  Pay attention to what you say when you talk to yourself.  Positive self-talk can be one of your best weapons for confidence-boosting, so make sure you cultivate the habit.  

Be forgiving.  Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself.  A failed project or relationship can burden you for years.  There’s no gain in punishing yourself over and over, so let’s go of old guilt.

Take care of yourself physically.  Physical fitness may be the ultimate investment opportunity.  Think of it this way: If you are willing to make the commitment (investment), you will feel and look healthier, have an abundance of energy, be more self-confident, more productive, and discover a more joyous and fulfilling life.  These are rewards that money cannot buy and the substance of high quality living.  Yet many of us fail to act on this extraordinary opportunity.  We simply choose to procrastinate or ignore the proven benefits of exercise.

Choose you.   Learn to enjoy your own company.  If you only spend time alone when no one else is available, you’re settling for your own company rather than choosing it.  Plan a day for just you, and attempt to focus on who’s there, rather than who’s missing.   You might be pleasantly surprised.

DARE to Be YOU, The Real YOU, The Whole YOU.  No One Can Beat YOU at Being YOU.  Everything else is taken!

Self-worth for Net-worth

Money is often a key ingredient in us realizing our dreams. Both in having the financial means to be, do and have your dream, as well as to actually feel financially secure. When we are not yet where we want to be, and may not be able to even see achievement of these goals in our sight, it can be a stressful state of being.

The first step towards easing that stress is to recognize that it’s not a lack of funds or money management ‘know-how’ which are at the root of the issue.

In fact, these are just the symptoms and products of your inner beliefs about money.

Many people don’t even realize we have these inner beliefs-which we “inherited” from our family and internalized over time-or that these beliefs can hold us back from wealth and financial security.  

What’s important for you to know is that these beliefs fall into 2 categories: Supportive and Non-Supportive:

Supportive beliefs provide encouragement, empowerment and positive feelings.

Non-supportive beliefs can bring disempowerment, helplessness, hopelessness, and panic.

The exercises below will help you identify your non-supportive beliefs. So that you can learn how to control them and make more conscious, objective, and smart financial decisions. 

To begin to understand your own “B.S.” (Belief System), answer these initial questions:

1. What does money mean to you?
2. How would you describe your relationship to money and your current money management habits?
3. When you hear the words money, wealth, or rich, what comes to mind?
4. What did your parents tell you about money?
5. How do you currently act with money?

Now compare your answers to the supportive and non-supportive belief criteria. Were your thoughts and feelings empowering or disempowering? Here are some examples of non-supportive beliefs:

1. I’m not good at money or math.
2. If I try and I don’t succeed at making money, I’ll be a failure.
3. I have to work very hard for money and I won’t be able to make money doing what I love.
4. If I do what it takes to make a lot of money, it will take time away from my family and people won’t like me.
5. I don’t deserve to have a lot of money.

Holding onto these non-supportive beliefs can be very destructive-both emotionally and physically-and often sabotages our drive to go after our dreams at all.

Even though most of us don’t have a direct impact on the financial markets, we have 100% impact on our personal beliefs and behaviors about money. You can choose to leave your money past in the past starting today.
